Who is a PMJAY Beneficiary?

A PMJAY beneficiary (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana beneficiary) is a person whose family is identified in the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 database as economically vulnerable and eligible for free health coverage under the PM-JAY scheme.

Beneficiaries are entitled to ₹5 lakh annual health coverage per family for cashless treatment at over 27,000 empanelled hospitals across India. The scheme covers approximately 50 crore beneficiaries from 10.74 crore families, making it the world's largest health insurance program.

PMJAY Beneficiary Eligibility Criteria

Beneficiary eligibility is determined by the SECC 2011 database. Families meeting the following criteria are eligible beneficiaries:

Rural Beneficiaries (Deprivation Criteria)

  • • Households with only one room, kutcha walls and roof
  • • No adult member between age 16 to 59 years
  • • Female-headed households with no adult male
  • • Households with disabled member and no able-bodied adult
  • • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe households
  • • Landless households deriving income from manual labor

Urban Beneficiaries (Occupational Criteria)

  • • Rag pickers, beggars, domestic workers
  • • Street vendors, cobblers, hawkers
  • • Construction workers, plumbers, masons, painters
  • • Transport workers, drivers, rickshaw pullers
  • • Mechanics, electricians, repair workers
  • • Washermen, sweepers, sanitation workers, gardeners

How to Become a PMJAY Beneficiary

Check Your Eligibility

Visit beneficiary.nha.gov.in and verify if your family is in the SECC 2011 database. Enter your mobile number, Aadhaar, or ration card details to check beneficiary status instantly.

Understand Your Beneficiary Status

If eligible, you'll see your family details and beneficiary status. Note your Health Account Number and list of family members covered under the scheme.

Get Your Beneficiary Card

Visit nearest CSC center or empanelled hospital with Aadhaar card. Complete biometric verification to generate your Ayushman card. The card will be issued immediately.

Access Beneficiary Portal

Register on beneficiary.nha.gov.in using your mobile number. Access online services including card download, hospital search, and transaction history.

Visit any empanelled hospital when needed, show your card at Ayushman Mitra desk, complete biometric verification, and receive cashless treatment under your ₹5 lakh coverage.
