Overview
Ayushman Bharat Card, also known as the Golden Card or PMJAY Card, is a health insurance card issued under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). Launched on September 23, 2018, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is the world's largest government-funded health insurance scheme.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme provides free health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to over 50 crore beneficiaries from economically vulnerable families.

Eligibility is based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 database. Families meeting the following criteria are eligible:
- Families from SECC 2011 database
- Households with kutcha walls and roof
- Families with no adult member (16-59 years)
- Female-headed households with no adult male
- Households with disabled members
- SC/ST households
- Landless households deriving income from manual labor
- Destitute, homeless, and beggars
